The mother of appropriation

Elaine Sturtevant was an American artist born on August 23, 1924 and died on May 7, 2014 in Paris at the age of 89.
Ms. Sturtevant, known professionally as Sturtevant, was sometimes called the mother of appropriation.
From the early 1960s her work consisted of replicating works by artists such as Andy Warhol, Jasper Jones, Frank Stella, Marcel Duchamp, and Joseph Beuys dating from just before they became recognised.
